What is Tenancy Support?
Barnabas Safe & Sound employs a support worker specifically to support young people in tenancies. This support is offered to young people who are getting a tenancy for the first time and young people who already have a tenancy but are struggling to manage. The tenancy support worker will meet with you to find out what sort of support you would benefit from and agree a support plan with you.
Which areas does the support worker cover?
Generally our tenancy support worker will support young people in Castle Morpeth and occasionally neighbouring areas, however we work in partnership with the YMCA to offer a service accross Wansbeck and Blyth Valley too.
What type of Accomodation does the scheme cover?
We rely on local authority, housing associations and private landlords to provide accomodation for the scheme.
Are there any Costs?
The costs of the support are paid for by Northumberland Care Trust. Additional Support for young people in hardship can be gained from Charitable Trusts or we can help you to apply to the Social Fund.
How do I apply?
Suitable young people for the scheme are often referred to us from Social Services, Housing Departments , Connexions Service or our own projects. All applicants need to complete an application form and will meet our staff to talk through expectations before being offered a place on the scheme.
If we cannot offer support we will explain why and try to put you in touch with some one who can.
