We are Proud to be Mayors Charity 2011-2012
"I have decided that any fund-raising I do in the role of Mayor will be for Barnabas Safe & Sound."
" It is a young people's housing and support charity based in Morpeth. I am impressed with the support it gives to young people who could possibly end up being homeless."
Cllr Phil Taylor Mayor of Morpeth
Sponsored Walk to raise funds for Barnabas Safe & Sound and for Mustard Tree Trust.
On Saturday 20th August Paul Cleever-Thorpe, Methodist Minister at Morpeth & Pegswood, walked across Northumberland to raise funds for both projects which each, in their own way, bringing new hope and life to children and young people.
Our appeal to the community for funds this year is focussed on raising £40,000 to enable us to purchase a people carrier and broaden our activities for young people.

We need members. Membership of Barnabas Safe & Sound is open to individuals and organisations who support our charitable objects.
We are accountable to the community through our membership.
Roughly half of our Trustees are voted onto the board every year at our Annual General Meeting of members.
Any member can nominate another member for a position on the board. Nominations should be seconded by another member. All Nominations which have been seconded will be put to the members at the AGM.
Trustees have the power to co-opt Trustees to the board during the year if it is felt they bring relevant experiance to the board.
Barnabas-Safe & Sound welcomes the contribution of volunteers to services and promotes their involvement. Volunteers complement the work of paid staff and do not substitute for paid staff.
We believe that volunteers have an important role to play in engaging young people with the community. That is the interaction of individuals who share a sense of place, interest or activity. In this context we want to encourage volunteers who share our vision for a community that enables young people to thrive.
We have identified a number of roles where volunteers with the right skills and a positive attitude can make a significant difference to our services. To view and download our Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Registration Form and possible Volunteer Roles please check out our downloads section.
Note it is our policy to request Enhanced CRBs from all volunteers who are likely to work alongside children and vulnerable adults.
